The United Reformed Church in Edward Street was originally a school hall attached to the Congregational Church next door. The hall, first known as "Osborn Hall" in memory of Joseph Osborn, a founder member, was built in 1856. The words on front of the building say "Bicentenary Memorial School AD 1862".
